****WATERLOO FOR SMA CONVERSION****

Waterloo: The Greatest Battles Series for SMA battle pack [WGBS] is a conversion of the
game Waterloo: Napoleons Last Battle [WNLB] that now can be played on SMA using the SMA format.

The WGBS battle pack download should contain five zips which include:
1 This readme.
2. Waterloo: The Greatest Battles Series for SMA battle pack folder.
3. Waterloo Soldier folder.
4. Waterloo Screens and Menu folder.
5. Waterloo Sounds folder.

This is a rather large battle pack, so here are some suggestions for installation.
1. Load your Antietam game as instructed.
2. Install the Antietam V2.0 Beta Patch in the main game folder.
3. For game sounds on XPs, Don Wells suggest that you delete the CFGMGR32.DLL
and the SETUPPAPI.Dill from your main game folder.
4. Copy the Battle Pack folder into your Larry Hookings SMA File Utility.
5. Create a second SMA File Utility and name it SMWaterlooSoldiers. Then copy the Waterloo Soldier folder into it.
6. Create a third SMA Utility and name it SMWaterlooScreensandMenus. Then copy the Waterloo Screens and Menu folder into that.
7. Load the above three File Utilities separately into the main SMA folder.
8. Lastly, if you want the Waterloo Sounds, I would suggest that you first rename the main Antietam Sound folder to
something like Antietam Sounds, and then copy the whole Waterloo Sound folder into the main game folder - and then
change the name to Sounds. Just reverse the process to change back to the original Antietam sounds.

****DO NOT TRY TO LOAD THE BATTLE PACK BY SIMPLY DUMPING THE CONTENTS OF BOTH THE SOLDIER FOLDER, AND THE SCREENS
AND MENU FOLDER INTO THE MAIN WATERLOO: GREATEST BATTLES SERIES FOLDER, AND TRYING TO LOAD EVERYTHING AT ONCE.* I have found that because of the size
of the battle pack, I have experienced incomplete loading and unloading of the pack using this method.
For best results, load the battle pack as described above.****

****SOME GAME NOTES****

- To have location names appear on the map, click on any unit - with the exception of an artillery unit and press
the letter t on your key board. Press again to remove the names.

- Some 3D graphics in WNLB [such as the 3D wall around Hougoumont] could not be converted. However, the map [the map size is 145Wx100H squares],
the other graphics, the obs, the soldier units, information maps, and the scenarios were all able to be converted
successfully to the SMA format. With the exception of the cobbled main roads, I decided to use the general roads,
the sunken roads, the trails, and the streams from SMA. I have found that graphically, they worked better.

- The construction of the Screens and Menus are my work.

- The Cavalry units used in combat will fight in the SMA format that is, they will dismount and fight on foot,
rather than fight from horseback as in the WNLB format.

- If you do not want the portraits of the Confederate and Union Generals appearing in the game,
simply move them into a temporary folder. Personally, I have permanently deleted them, along with
the photographs of the Antietam landscape and the photos of the corn fields.

- The hedged wall around Hougoumont has fortification value as do the buildings within the compound.
You can only enter the compound either through the Gatehouse or through the back of the gardens.

- All of the Farm Compounds, the main Churches, the Sandpit, and Frichermont have fortification values.

- In Scenarios 52 and 54 [Napoleon Attacks in the Morning, and The Battle of Waterloo], I had to reduce the size
of the scenarios to include only the historical units that appeared on the battlefield at that time. The original scenarios
included a total eight variables with additional units that did not fight in those battles. SMA could simply not process the
massive size of the additional units contained in all of the variants. However, you can play both scenarios using the original
historical units or in the case of Napoleon Attacks in the Morning,
  the perceived historical units.

- The Waterloo Sounds were pilfered from various games and user made battle packs I thank them for their contribution.

If there are any glaring mistakes that went undiscovered, please point them out, and corrections will be made.

This battle pack is by no means any original graphics work on my part. It only started out as an experimental conversion project
to see if oversized maps could be played on SMA. Please be forewarned, that while I have not experienced any problem playing
this pack on my computer, take into account this is an experimental project with an oversized map for SMA, and any negative
results that may occur to your system is a result of your decision to play this pack.

This pack is not to be marketed, or sold in any way. I would request, that any changes made to this battle pack, be made
as an add-on or an enhancement pack, thus keeping the original contents of this pack intact.

I would like to give a much appreciated thanks Graeme for all of his advice with this conversion project some of which I
accepted, and some of which I rejected. Im sure I tried his patience several times, after he would send to me a detailed
explanation about a question I had, and I would send him back a simple one sentence reply I have no idea what your
talking about. Thanks again Graeme for all your help.
